| Agency History: | Puget Sound Regional Council is the federal Metropolitan Planning Organization and state Regional Transportation Planning Organization for Central Puget Sound. It serves King, Kitsap, Pierce and Snohomish Counties. It was formed in 1991 and at that time took over from the Puget Sound Council of Governments as the region’s federal Metropolitan Planning Organization. It is governed by a General Assembly, comprised of all elected officials from its member government agencies. The General Assembly meets annually to vote on major decisions, approve the budget and elect new leaders. The Executive Board, whose members are appointed by their General Assembly constituents to represent the member governments, meets monthly to make decisions on behalf of the General Assembly. |
