Aeneas Valley Cemetery is located on Aeneas Valley Rd in Tonasket, WA at Lat: 48° 34' 28"N, Lon: 119° 03' 10"W, T37N R28E Sec 34. There are 6 individuals listed in this index. This index is in English. This index is open for research. Transcribed by Maggie Rail, Sep 19, 2003. Transcription Notes: “This was the cemetery for the Chief Joe Aeneas family, but now the land which is around the cemetery is owned by someone else. It has a fence around it, and sits out there alone. It was on allotment land but now it is separate.” “I tried to count the crosses, and estimate there are more than two dozen buried here. With so many missing or broken crosses, one really cannot easily tell the number.” “The names listed were provided by August Snyder & Rhonda Horn several years ago to Violet Utt and Opal Willms when they read this cemetery. I found no names written on any markers when I was there. Some crosses are painted white and look nice, others have started to deteriorate. At one time it was probably very well taken care of.” “There is another Unknown burial spot about a half mile west of this one, on the southeast side of Catherine Cecil Lake. I did not visit it, but the coordinates are: Lat: 48° 34' 26"N, Lon: 119° 03' 40"W.” I visited and surveyed this burial site Aug 16, 2003.” |
