Thurstoneer Certificate Applications
Introduction:
This database contains 64 family group sheets submitted for a pioneer certificate of early settlers in Thurston County 1852-1902. Thurston County Historic Commission began the application process, and handed it to the Olympia Genealogical Society to approve certification and manage the program. Folders containing various copies of documents and citations of 64 pioneer families were given to the Southwest Regional Archives, in Olympia, Washington for cataloging and archiving.

The group sheets provide some or all of the following information: name of the pioneer head of the family, date of arrival, residence, date and place of birth, occupation and military service, spouse, parents and children. Not imaged but part of the collection held at the Southwest Regional Archives are the following records: census, birth, death and marriage, wills, probate, citizenship, divorce, voting, deeds and civil case files. Also included may be cemetery records and copies of early newspaper articles.

Information not included in the images can be quite extensive, and can be obtained by contacting Southwest Regional Archives, 1129 Washington Street SE, PO Box 40238, Olympia, Washington. Telephone: 360-586-4698 or email at: swresearch@secstate.wa.gov.
