Introduction:
These records include the minutes of the Vancouver School District #47, #20, and #37 Board meetings. District #47 minutes date from May 05, 1877 through March 24, 1913. District #20 minutes date from March 02, 1907 through March 12, 1918. District #37 minutes date from February 03, 1900 through August 24, 1999. Additionally, there are 16 Clark College Board of Directors Meeting Minutes included from January 08, 1946 through April 29, 1963.

In 1852, the commissioners divided Clark County into five school districts and the Vancouver District was designated as No. 6. In 1915, Fruit Valley School District #47 was consolidated with the Vancouver District #6 forming Vancouver School District #86. Vancouver School District #37 was formed in 1918 when the McCarthy School District was consolidated with Vancouver School District #86. Finally, in 1945 the Minnehana School District #7 was added to Vancouver School District #37. A fire at the Clark County Courthouse in the 1890s destroyed some school records.

Minutes are the official record of the proceedings of the Board. Minutes may include date, board members present, summary of official reports from various departments, budget approvals and other committee business. The records in this collection are indexed by date.

Vancouver Public Schools administrative offices are located in Clark County.
