Introduction:
These records include marriage applications, licenses, returns, and certificates recorded by the Spokane County Auditor from 1880 to the present.

Copies of marriage certificates, 1880-1974, and marriage returns 1891-1907, were digitized, indexed, and submitted to the Digital Archives by the Washington State Archives, Eastern Region Branch from their Spokane County Auditor records holdings.

Electronic copies of marriage applications and certificates, 1974-present, were transferred directly to the Washington State Archives, Digital Archives from the Spokane County Auditor, who transfers recently recorded documents monthly.

Spokane County government was created in 1858. In 1863 the county was annexed by Stevens County. Spokane County government was reestablished in 1879, and the present county boundaries were established in 1883.

These records are open for research.

The Spokane County Marriage records at the Eastern Regional Branch were scanned and indexed by the staff of the Eastern Regional Branch, interns from Eastern Washington University, and volunteers from the Eastern Washington Genealogy Society which included Barbara Brazington, Kay Hale, Kathy Lamphere, Karen Struve, and Duane Beck.
