EXECUTIVE ORDER  74-15

Salmon and Steelhead have for time immemorial been an extremely beneficial indigenous resource for the people of the State of Washington. With prudent husbandry and conservation Practices, this important resource will continue to flourish for years to come. Recent court decisions have caused great concern on the part of citizens of this state as to the future management and utilization of this resource.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Daniel J. Evans, Governor of the State of Washington, do hereby establish the State Salmon and Steelhead Council which is to be constituted of five persons representing non-Indian commercial fisheries, five persons representing sports fishing interests, and five members of the Indian Fishing Commission. This Council will serve as a Consultative Committee to the Directors of the Departments of Fisheries and Game on the management of the resource.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set
my hand and caused the seal of the State of
Washington to be affixed at Olympia this
3rd day of October A.D., Nineteen hundred and seventy-four.
