EXECUTIVE ORDER  71-07

While all citizens have the right of voluntary association and to gather with whom they choose, the State of Washington should not conduct its business on the premises of those organizations who by their governing laws discriminate against persons on account of race, color, creed or ethnic origin.

THEREFORE, I direct all agencies and their personnel under my jurisdiction in the course of official state business to abstain from the use of any facilities operated by private organizations which by their governing laws have restrictions on membership on account of race, color, creed or ethnic origin. This is not intended to apply to clubs or organizations which are formed for the express purpose of furthering the culture or religious traditions of a particular religion or racial or ethnic group.

This Executive Order is effective immediately.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set
my hand and caused the seal of the State of
Washington to be affixed at Olympia this
19th day of November A.D., Nineteen hundred and seventy-one.
