TO: All Departmental Heads and Commissions

FROM: Governor Arthur B. Langlie

SUBJECT: Executive Bulletin

The Highway Traffic Advisory Committee of the State of Washington, working with local war transportation committees throughout the state, are finding it necessary to suggest more flexibility in the opening and closing hours of state offices as set forth in Chapter 113, Laws of Washington, 1941.

In the interests of transportation conservation and congestion relief, it becomes apparent that the opening and closing hours of state offices should be subject to readjustment, when and if requested by local war transportation administrators.

You are requested to cooperate with the local administrator and committee in your area and, after consultation, make such adjustments as in your judgment may be necessary. We feel that the State of Washington should take the lead in this important matter.
