EXECUTIVE ORDER  04-14-65

WHEREAS, expenditures for state services have increased at a rate far in excess of population growth; and

WHEREAS, it is vital to the economic health and prosperity of the State of Washington that its administrative services be conducted on a sound, efficient and economical basis and that the people of this state be assured of wise expenditure of their tax dollars; and

WHEREAS, leaders of business and industry of this state have volunteered assistance in performing a detailed examination of the administration of these state services preparatory to a reorganization of services and procedures of state government.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Daniel J. Evans, Governor of the State of Washington, do hereby establish the COUNCIL FOR REORGANIZATION OF WASHINGTON STATE GOVERNMENT, and do appoint and constitute Don W. Johnson, Chairman of said Council; L. Evert Landon, J. M. Bloxom, William A. Ware, Robert N. Loomis, Victor F. Knutzen, and J. R. Mitchell as members of the Executive Committee of the Council; and Warren King and Associates as consultants to the Council, hereby authorizing and empowering them to make such studies and investigations as they may consider necessary to ascertain the means and manner by end in which the services of the State of Washington may be afforded to its citizens in the most efficient, expeditious and economical manner, and, to that end, further authorizing and empowering them to select and retain as their agents and assistants such executives and experts front business and industry as are skilled in the conduct of private enterprise;

IN FURTHERANCE WHEREOF, I charge every officer and employee of this state to furnish to the Council and its representatives complete information concerning their respective departments, divisions, bureaus and boards and to give to the Council and its agents every assistance in the performance of their duties; and

Upon the completion of its work, I request that said Council shall render to me a full report of its findings and such recommendations as said Council shall deem appropriate in the premises.
