PRESS RELEASE
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Governor-Elect Dino Rossi Kicks off Forward Washington Tour Governor-Elect Dino Rossi continues his “Forward Washington” tour this Wednesday December 15 at 6:30 p.m. in Wenatchee at Chelan County Auditorium [corner of Washington and Douglas]. Wenatchee is the fourth stop in a statewide tour that will continue through January 2005. Other locations will be announced next week. Transition Team Budget Director Dan McDonald will join Governor-Elect Rossi in presenting an overview of Washington’s upcoming 2005-2007 budget. The budget has a projected shortfall of $1.8 billion. Governor Locke supports a tax increase. Governor-Elect Rossi acknowledges the gravity of the shortfall but remains confident that no new taxes will be needed to create a balanced budget. Rossi said “My primary mission as Governor will be to bring businesses and jobs back to Washington state. Raising taxes will take us backwards. We are going to make Washington a good place for families and business by living within our means.” The Forward Washington listening tour invites the public to attend and participate in creating the solutions the Rossi Administration will need to resolve the projected shortfall. ###
