| Introduction |
These records include Ordinances 1 through 2546 enacted by the Issaquah City Council for meetings from April 27, 1892, to December 15, 2008. A few early ordinances are unnumbered. Until 1970, ordinances and resolutions were numbered together sequentially, resulting in apparent gaps in numbering. Early ordinances are in a variety of formats, including references in the minutes and clippings from published ordinances. Ordinances #3, 6, 7, 9 and 16 are located in the minutes. Ordinances # 5 and # 12 are not used.
Ordinances passed by the city council are the laws which govern the city and are normally codified into a Municipal Code. Record includes ordinance number, type or legal details and date. The ordinances in this collection are indexed by date and by ordinance number. Ordinances in this collection may have been repealed, superseded, amended, or otherwise had their legal effects altered by subsequent actions of the city council. Those seeking the current Municipal Code should refer to the city’s main office. The City of Issaquah is located in King County. It incorporated in 1892 as the Town of Gilman. The name Issaquah was adopted in 1899. All records are in English. These records are open for research. Filmed by Washington State Archives, Imaging and Preservation Services and indexed by the staff of the Puget Sound Regional Branch. |
