| Introduction |
The Oregon Territorial Legislature created Clark County on September 3, 1849. It is named in honor of William Clark of Lewis and Clark fame. For a short time Clark County included all of present-day Washington. Until 1925 the county was spelled Clarke. There are 2,710 people listed on this census. |
