| Introduction |
These records are part of the Jail Register of prisoners from the Asotin County Sheriff, confined from 1887 through 1950. The register shows name, date committed, offence, sentence, age, height, sex, race, education, religious instruction, trade or occupation, physical condition, and date of discharge, parole or escape. Included in this register is the incarceration of 12 year old Herbert Niccolls, Jr. for the murder of Asotin County Sheriff John Wormell on August 5, 1931.
Jail Registers are a summary record in some form of each person committed to a jail showing at a minimum; the name and gender of the person, intake number thereon for their commitment or confinement, and the date of their release or transfer.
