“This cemetery can be reached from Hwy 20 by taking W. Calispel Rd for about 9.6 mi to Pease Road. The cemetery lies .6 of a mile further, as you travel up Pease Rd. You should see it on the hill to your left. The Calispel Cemetery Association was formed in 1916, after land was donated by Flavius E. Pease to be used as a community cemetery, on 2 acres in the SW ¼ of Sec 10, Twp32N R43E. Since the county road has been redone, it cuts off a small portion of one side, reducing the size of the cemetery a bit.”
“We have here a typical rural cemetery, nestled amid the evergreen trees, which is still being used by the surrounding community for those who own lots. There are no longer any spaces left to sell, and no plans to enlarge at present. It includes burials from 1905 to 2004.”
“Some time passed before the present association was formed, and a few burials may have been moved in from other locations. A small number of burials are from the county, and no proper stones were placed, thus some listed only have names, and some were never properly marked and may not be listed.”
“I did a complete survey of this cemetery on Aug 08, 1999. I re-walked the cemetery again on Jun 29, 2004, using my digital camera. I have photos of all existing legible stones or markers. I found some missing since my first reading. Those with an asterisk * are entries which I have no photo for.”
