Transcription Notes: “This cemetery is south of Malott about 2 miles, on the west side of the Okanogan River, near where Chiliwist Creek meets old Hwy 97. Note the different spellings of the name Chilowist. I am not sure how it is spelled. It is situated on the Chillowist Trail, which was an early route used to connect the Okanogan and the Methow River Valleys.” “Vicki Morris and I walked this cemetery on Sep 24, 2000. We found at least 50 crosses and other types of markings with no information, many of which appear to be graves for babies. This cemetery is still being used for burials. We visited and walked it again on May 22, 2007 using digital cameras.” |
